On Saturday 1st December
it was World Aids Day and The Tomorrow Trust were celebrating
in Nelson Mandela Square with the support of BSG by hosting
a paint party. It was a fabulous day that allowed the Tomorrow
Trust to create awareness of the work we do, promote the
stories of the children and the mothers through the sale
of Kim Feinberg’s publications, Tomorrow and A Mother’s
Legacy and to have fun!
The paint party was hugely successful
with many of the Tomorrow Trust students starting the artwork
with the support of our graphic artist, Fundo. Kevin Adno
from Lounge Around donated a sofa, which was also painted
and will be auctioned to raise funds. The 2007 Idols finalists
also came and painted a canvas and met the students from
the Tomorrow Trust.
The celebrations continued into the evening
with carols by candlelight guided by Richard Cock and the
Symphony Choir of Johannesburg and the Jo’burg Festival
Orchestra. Coupled with this were the voices of Claire
Johnston and Loyiso Bala who led everyone through their
favourite Christmas songs. The finale was then performed
by Mango Groove who played some of their best-known numbers.
It was a great evening and fun was had by all.
The Tomorrow Trust would like to say a
huge thank you to Nelson Mandela Square and BSG who helped
make the event possible. It was a wonderful opportunity
to raise awareness of the Tomorrow Trust and generate funds
to enable us to continue the work we do.
