Mother and Children’s Party
On the 22nd June all the mothers and their children were
invited to a fun party held at Jimmy Jungles in Fourways.
This was to thank the mothers for their efforts in the
new book and to include their children in this fun and
carefree event. There were jumping castles, slides, tanks
of balls and lots of other fun things for the kids to play
on. The mothers had tea and cake and the children had goodie
packs filled with sweets and chips. We also put sweets
and chocolates on the tables for them. We were very fortunate
to have 3 highly acclaimed face painters donate their time
to the children. The children were ecstatic at having their
faces painted like Spiderman, Batman, monsters, fairies
and princesses. Everyone had great fun.
Mother’s Tea
On the 28th June, a tea party and debriefing session was
held at the Park Hyatt for all the mothers who were interviewed
in the book. The first part of the afternoon was a group
debriefing with two social workers who were part of the
interviewing process with Kim. It gave the mothers the
opportunity to express how they were left feeling after
their interview and how they were dealing with their emotions.
It was an uplifting and moving session. After the debriefing
the mothers were treated to a delicious high tea and a
hand and Indian head massage from the girls of Shinzu Spa
and Wellness Centre. Kim presented all the mothers with
a certificate of appreciation, a throw rug, a Clarins gift
and a voucher for R100 from Pick n Pay.
